Lauren Kauffman

Lauren Kaufmann was born in Virginia. She is a wife, mother, model, and former collegiate volleyball player. She graduated with a degree in Health Science before beginning her career as a model in the fashion industry. She is represented by FORD Models, Innovative Artists and Wilhelmina LA.  Lauren is a professed health foodie, beauty junkie & fitness enthusiast!  She spends time being physically active, creating both delicious and healthy foods, and quality time with family!

What are some routines that ground or fuel you?

I am an introvert.  I need moments throughout my day that are quiet, and these are the moments I am strengthened.  At home with three small children those moments are numbered.  Gone are my days of sitting, sipping coffee, journaling & reflecting on life. But I have learned to be grateful for the pockets of time throughout my day where I get to think, reflect, & be still.  They are a gift to me.

How has motherhood impacted the way you see relationships?

Motherhood has sparked appreciation.  As a mom you are constantly serving others, so I am grateful for any thoughtful gesture.  Becoming a mom has magnified everything my parents did for me because I suddenly can see all of their sacrifice on my behalf.   

How has your concept of identity shifted through modeling, marriage and motherhood?

I think through every season (modeling, marriage, motherhood) I am finding the core of who I am.  Each new season is pregnant with both high and low moments.  The emotional tug of these (usually the lows) always bring me face to face with the one who holds all things together.  I’ve learned God is my only constant, and it is true “all other ground is sinking sand.”  Whenever I feel my hands/heart holding onto something or someone too tightly I always think “Who am I if this was taken away from me?” “Would I be okay?” And when my heart and identity are in the right place, I can usually answer these questions peacefully. 

Why read the bible?

I read the bible because I believe it is truth. It is Gods word. It is His gift to us and everything pertaining to life can be found there. I go to the bible for wisdom, freedom, healing, knowledge, and everything else. It is how I get to know who God is and who He says I am in Christ. 

What questions make you anxious? (which others ask or you ask yourself)

All questions!  Haha! Actually, I love questions, but they also make me anxious sometimes.  They are a reminder that I need to slow down and reflect long enough to find the answers! 

How has your life and experience informed your definition of beauty?

As a woman I do long to “feel beautiful.”  I think we all do…to some degree.  But physical beauty is fleeting.  We will all be “old” one day.  Focusing on love, loving people and developing an inner beauty that will never fade.  When I am gone one day, people won’t remember whether or not I was “beautiful,” but they will remember how they felt when they were around me.  I want to build people up.  Mostly, I just want God to be glorified in my life.  To me that is a life worth living.

Is there a place that holds memories of growth?

Savannah, Georgia.  

I moved from Virginia where I grew up to Savannah, Georgia on a volleyball scholarship.  So much happened those four years. Playing collegiate volleyball, living on my own for the first time, finding myself, and becoming an adult.  It is also where I got engaged and later went back to be married!  Sweet memories in that place.

Do you have any words of wisdom on the topic of transition and change?

Life is one big transition and constant change.  Haha! Or, at least that is what it has been for me.  I’m learning to trust. I figure: settle in... hold on, and enjoy the ride.
